A Facelift Surgeon's Popular Surgeries

A facelift surgeon is trained and certified in many different cosmetic procedures and treatments aside from what is thought of as the typical face lift. Surgical procedures for the eyes, ears, lips, chin, and neck and various cosmetic treatments are all part of the profession.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, removes skin and fat from both the upper and the lower eyelids. This is sometimes done strictly for cosmetic reasons, but the procedure can be of the reconstructive realm for those who have sagging eyelids that interfere with vision.

Ear surgery, also known as otoplasty, is performed by facial surgeons as well; this procedure, sometime referred to as ear pinning, can either involve setting the ears closer to the head or it can involve changing the shape of the ears. Other shape changing surgeries include genioplasty, which is a chin implant, and rhinoplasty which can change the bridge, tip, or nostrils. Nasal reconstruction is another operation that is sometimes sought beyond cosmetics reasons as it can be used for issues related to breathing or snoring. 

Some areas of the face can be treated with liposuction like the neck while augmentation is popular for the cheeks and the lips both of which are areas that an experienced facial surgeon will be familiar; skin treatments for the face, or non-invasive cosmetic facial procedures, are also part of this medical professional’s training.

One of the most popular treatments is Botox injections which are used to reduce wrinkles in the brow area and forehead. Botox is also effective for filling in frown lines. Dermatological issues such as uneven skin tone, irregularities, scars, and minimal wrinkles can be addresses with chemical peels and micro-dermabrasion, and all of these should be within the training of a facelift surgeon. 

Other areas of the profession include laser treatments and, of course, the facelift. Some of these procedures can be done simultaneously helping to address multiple issues at once, and a consultation with a cosmetic professional should include an explanation of all the options available to a client. A facelift, for example, does not address skin texture, but it can be performed in conjunction with a treatment that will enhance skin tone. Brow lifts and other surgeries addressing the eyes and eye lids are also often elected together.
